Blondage is the Danish pop-duo Esben Andersen and Pernille Smith-Sivertsen based in Copenhagen

Esben has been writing and producing electronic music for nearly 10 years. He started as a solo act in Rangleklods but has also collaborated with Mads Damsgaard (Reptile Youth) in Slow Celebration among others. When studying Aesthetics and Culture at the University of Aarhus he met Pernille and they quickly learned that they had a common perspective on aesthetics. Pernille joined Rangleklods in 2012 and provided an extremely interesting contrast to Esben’s vocal as well as taking the lead on the bands’ visual appearance. In 2015 they released Straitjacket which is their last album as Rangleklods. They will continue to make music as Blondage.

By embracing a fresh start as Blondage, Esben and Pernille complete the transformation from the experimental & electronic solo-project that kick started their collaboration to the full-blown electronic pop duo they’ve evolved into.

“We’ve released records with Rangleklods that we’re extremely proud of. But we need a new beginning for us to keep evolving. We’re changing our name to Blondage, and our main focus is to make edgy electronic pop tunes. The name Blondage is a contraction of ‘blond’ and ‘bondage’ and to us it combines naivety and daydreaming with aggression and sensuality. It has given us an empty canvas and a greater creative energy than we’ve ever had,” says Pernille.

Esben and Pernille both have academic backgrounds but see themselves mainly as musicians. Their studies have however helped them in defining their new expression as Blondage. They have they’re own professional studio in the center of Copenhagen where they work intensively on their material being involved in every process as they work together on producing and Pernille being the main force behind the visual identity and Esben dealing with mixing.
